GISBH: IGP says cops have rescued abused kids seen in viral video

Police have rescued two children seen in viral videos being abused while under the alleged care of welfare homes operated by Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH), said Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain.

The top police officer revealed that the rescue operation took place in Perak during phase four of the police operation against the group.

“Four of the rescued children are siblings, aged between six and 11, who have been separated from their father since 2021.

“One of them appeared in a viral TikTok video, where they were seen being caned by a GISBH member,” he told a press conference today.

Another child seen in a separate video being stepped on and pressed on the neck had also been rescued, he added.

“The child is under the care of the police and Health Ministry. He has been placed in a paediatric ward for extensive medical treatment,” Razarudin said, without mentioning the whereabouts of the other children.

The cases are being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Meanwhile, the Razarudin revealed one GISBH member had allegedly sent 32 of his 34 children to welfare homes linked to the company.

“One member in particular has four wives and 34 children.

“Only two children were cared for by the parents, the other 32 were handed over to the welfare homes,” he said.

Police raided 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan operated by GISBH on Sept 11, rescuing 402 children following allegations of child abandonment, sexual assault, and harassment.

Following subsequent raids, the total number of rescued children has been raised to 572. They have been placed in 11 safe houses and have undergone health screenings.

GISBH initially denied operating the raided homes and claims of child abuse.

However, its CEO Nasiruddin Mohd Ali later admitted to “one or two” cases of sodomy but argued that such incidents should not tarnish the entire organisation.

Nineteen individuals, including Nasiruddin and his wife, were remanded for seven days to assist in the investigation on Sept 19. 

The case prompted the Malaysian Bar and G25 to call for a royal commission of inquiry to investigate.

138 accounts with RM800k frozen

As the investigation entered its fourth phase, Razarudin said the number of frozen accounts had risen to 138, with an estimated value exceeding RM800,000.

“Fifteen of these accounts have been closed, and we have also seized vehicles worth almost RM1 million,” he said.

The IGP added that some of the accounts frozen were personal ones but did not divulge details on their owners.

Asked when the remanded GISBH members would be charged, Razarudin responded that the police would proceed once sufficient evidence had been gathered.

“We are still investigating. Our arrests are based on the information we have, and we will complete the investigation paper as soon as possible,” he explained.
